Becoming a Member

Many benefits come with being a Waretown First Aid Squad Volunteer.

Becoming a member of the Waretown First Aid Squad has many benefits for you and the community of Ocean Township.

1) You can become an Emergency Medical Technician:  Prospective members are provided, at no charge, extensive training by professionals in the field of emergency medical services. The classroom course, approximately 120 hours classroom/10 hours ER time, begins with safety on scene and ends with life support procedures. Upon completion of the course and passing the State/National level testing, you will be certified as an Emergency Medical Technician by the State of New Jersey. This free training is a great opportunity to learn life-saving skills or further a medical education (many go on to become Certified Paramedics).

2) You can serve your community: The Waretown First Aid Squad also welcomes volunteers for non-emergency responsibilities. Honorary and Auxiliary members support the Squad in community outreach, fund raising, membership drives and a myriad other Squad functions.

3) You can make a difference in people’s lives: In 2007 this all-volunteer organization answered over 800 calls, 600 man hours, to aid persons in need of medical attention in Waretown and surrounding Townships. The Waretown First Aid Squad was even called to support the relief efforts of September 11, 2001. The Squad has given emergency equipment to and provided career guidance for our local schools and recreation departments, held toy and food drives for families in need in Ocean County and helps replenish the area's Blood Bank with blood drives, as well as plan on hosting a Bone Marrow Donor Program at the National level during 2008. We are proud to work hand-in-hand with Ocean Township Police and Fire Departments.
